Spandala Integrative Massage & Bodywork School is a comprehensive 650-hour pre-licensure training designed to prepare students for a meaningful and dynamic career in massage therapy and integrative bodywork in the state of Kentucky.
This program blends theoretical education, hands-on skill development, and supervised clinical experience to cultivate knowledgeable, confident, and compassionate practitioners.
The program is delivered in a hybrid format designed to support both flexibility and hands-on training.
Students participate in:
One in-person weekend intensive per month for hands-on/practical instruction
Two live virtual classes and guided learning sessions per month
Self-paced mini lessons and independent study
Supervised internship and clinical experience
The monthly in-person intensive allows students to develop hands-on therapeutic skills, while the virtual learning components provide flexible access to lectures, discussions, and foundational theory.

Anatomy & Physiology
This course introduces students to the structure and function of the human body, from cells and tissues to body systems and the organism as a whole. Emphasis is placed on the musculoskeletal system, providing a detailed study of bones, muscles, and joints.
Students explore:
• Skeletal and muscular anatomy
• Muscle origins, insertions, and actions
• Fundamental kinesiology concepts
• Physiological systems and their role in health and wellness
• Medical terminology relevant to massage therapy practice
Students will develop the ability to identify bony landmarks, understand movement patterns, and apply anatomical knowledge to therapeutic bodywork.
Portions of this course may be delivered through virtual learning modules.
Foundations of Massage: Theory, Practice & Ethics
This foundational course introduces students to the history, philosophy, ethics, and professional standards of massage therapy while developing essential hands-on skills.
Students will learn how to:
• Create a trauma-sensitive environment for clients
• Communicate effectively with clients
• Understand indications and contraindications for massage
• Develop functional treatment plans
• Practice safe body mechanics that protect the therapist from injury

• Deep Tissue Massage Fundamentals
• Trigger Point Therapy Basics
• Advanced Palpation Skills
• Myofascial Massage Techniques

Students develop the core techniques and clinical awareness required for professional massage practice.
Advanced Massage Theory, Practice & Ethics
This course expands upon foundational skills with advanced therapeutic techniques and clinical assessment methods.
Students learn to apply massage therapy techniques to common injuries and chronic pain conditions, including:
• Carpal tunnel syndrome
• Fibromyalgia
• Sciatica
• Chronic neck, shoulder, and back pain
• Hip dysfunction
• Ankle sprains
Key areas of study include:
• Postural assessment
• Injury evaluation and treatment planning
• Neuromuscular trigger-point therapy
• Advanced stretching techniques
• Medical and orthopedic massage concepts
• Therapeutic integrations
The ethics component explores professional boundaries, therapist-client relationships, and ethical standards expected of massage therapists.
Allied Modalities & Practitioner Enrichment
This course introduces students to integrative and complementary healing modalities, expanding their ability to create customized wellness experiences for clients.
Training may include:
• Acupressure
• Cupping Therapy
• Gua Sha
• Energy-based touch therapies
• Trauma-sensitive care practices
• Practitioner sustainability and self-care
• Business practices for massage and bodywork professionals
The goal of this course is to broaden the therapeutic skillset of future practitioners while supporting professional longevity.
Students gain real-world professional experience through supervised clinical training.
Internship opportunities may take place at:

• HighVibe Chiropractic
• Partner wellness clinics and community organizations
Internship training includes:
• Providing supervised massage sessions
• Client intake and consultation
• Treatment documentation and SOAP notes
• Treatment planning and follow-up care
• Exposure to the business operations of massage and bodywork practices
